Create Space (Step 1/3 Altered States Basics)

Breath begins with the exhalation, the space creation.
The deeper you exhale , the deeper you inhale.
The size and quality of the exhalation determines the size and quality of the entire breath.
Whatever you want to breathe into manifestation, first requires a space equal to its quality.

We inhabit ( hold space in) multiple dimensions.
Both the modern scientific as well as contemporary spiritual perspectives agree on this principle. Though the understanding and definitions of what the dimensions are may differ. Since we are and live multidimensionally, space must be created multidimensionally, not just energetically or intellectually.

For simplicity, we’ll start with 3 areas of space to create. From these 3 sprouts a 4th space which we will cover in the next post.

These 3 areas of space are needed for ANYTHING you wish to materialise into your life, be it a skill, experience or physical object. You might realise that you intuitively and naturally create these spaces already, whenever you start a new endeavour. Just like you may realise you breathe and change your breath intuitively as you change your activity. Imagine becoming explicitly conscious and knowledgable about the mechanism of your breath and breathing. Your explicit insight becomes a powerful ally to train and improve your breath for optimal breathing. Now imagine becoming explicitly conscious and knowledgeable about the areas where you hold and create space for manifestation. This insight becomes a powerful ally to train and improve your creation skills. 

1 Create Inner Space. Inner awareness, the ability to observe, to recognise your intentions, choices and ability to choose.

2 Create Outer, External Space. A suitable physical environment for practicing in, so that your skill, experience, or physical creation can belong to the physical world.

3 Create Time Space, Time Passage. A pathway though linear time to be filled with committed action (action is energy, energy is fuel) so that your creation has a channel for fuel and sustenance to evolve and grow.

This all sounds practical and logical right? A strong spiritual and self transformation practice should be grounded in practicality and logic. Next post we’ll cover;
4 Create Space, for Space itself. Create the possibility and ability to connect with the subconscious, for tuning into and fine tuning the subtle, powerful qualities of all existence. That of your own and that which creates through you.

1 Create Inner Space. Inner awareness, the ability to observe, to recognise your intentions, choices and ability to choose.

There are 2 ways for cultivating inner awareness, directly and indirectly.

Directly – Mindfulness
Observe as much of yourself as you can and as you are, now.

You don’t need anyone’s permission.
You definitely don’t need a F***kin App
Just do it.
That simple.
Find a spot.
Limit distraction.
Set your own timer.
Give yourself instructions.
Take responsibility. 
Strengthen your self reliance.

Indirectly – Transformative Practices
Once you have observed yourself enough to recognise that you can observe, that you have intentions and an ability to choose. You can then choose to practice transforming. While practicing transforming you will still grow your inner awareness, indirectly.

Transformative practices will not work without some established inner awareness. That’s why most traditions start with inner awareness. (You must be aware of your intention and choice, to choose a suitable transformative practice and to recognise transformation). Practicing inner awareness alone, without choosing to change will change diddly squat (or will take a veeeeeeeerryyy long time.)

Choosing to transform through compassion
 is intelligent because it allows you to understand instead of  judge. When you understand, you make more informed decisions. 🙂

Your intention influences how you should practice. The mechanism of entering the subconscious and transforming is  like a universal template. But the methods and practices for navigating altered sates differ, because intentions and circumstances differ. There are 3 main motives why people start to learn how to enter trance and their subconscious mind. 
1 Healing
2 Self improvement, learning and enhanced performance
3 Consciousness evolution and spiritual awakening

What YOUR intention is will determine the details of your practice. Where your journey starts, how you wish to practice and how far you dare to go. Your intention is your guiding light. Without the intention, you will not enter trance consciously. You might stumble into it and in darkness dismiss the opportunity.

My personal perspective is that all sincere efforts of self improvement eventually lead to self-discovery, the experiential realisation that you are a vessel of and for creation. You create and shift through multiple dimensions of consciousness including that of Oneness. Which is why I place great importance on using methods and practices of trance that prepare you for this great journey from the beginning.
People with illness to heal find themselves reevaluating their lives, peeling away the layers of their past, revealing their essence and Source spirit as a great ally on their healing journey.
People striving for personal excellence, through reevaluating and discarding limitations find themselves concluding that their highest source of power is the ability to tap into altered states and experience Spirit beyond the self.
People who in their search for Spirit, retrace the steps back to their inner impulse of the mind to search and there, discard the search. For there is no distance between spirit and self, only shifts of perception.

If your intention is to transcend the perception of the ego
, spend more time on strengthening inner awareness. An unwavering ability to observe neutrally. You can use compassion. Observe compassion. Experience what compassion does. Observe no compassion. Experience what no compassion does. The ego is intertwined with the mechanics of the mind and the 5 kleshas or obstacles of perception. Read all about them in the Yoga Sutras of Pathanjali. It is useful to be aware of them.
Ignorance, you don’t know what you don’t know.
Ego, personal identification with form.
Attachment, attracted mostly to that which is familiar. 
Aversion, unquestioningly avoiding certain things without reevaluating your judgement.
Fear, a powerful, primal and primitive response below the level of critical judgement.

2 Create Outer, External Space. A suitable physical environment for practicing, so that your skill, experience, or physical creation can belong to the physical world.

Creating a physical, external space for skill building works the same as creating a physical space for a physical building. Instead of building a building, you build skills through action. You fill your space with the action (energy) of your creation, bringing that energy into the physical dimension. The way you interact with your physical space, is how you interact with the physical world.

3 Create Time Space, Time Passage. A pathway though linear time to be filled with committed action (action is energy. energy is fuel) so that your creation has a channel for fuel and sustenance to evolve and grow.

Committing to an action over time is like creating an energetic channel from the dimension of unmanifested intention into the dimension of linear time, where we usually want to materialise things. Everyday you practice, grows and EVOLVES the energy in that channel.  When your inner space, external space and time space join, they work synergistically and the actions are much easier to practice. In other words, if you habitualise a consistent time and location for inner practice or skill building, you align more easily with what you want to create.
